We are seeking an experienced Clinical Services Manager to lead our high-demand Online Bereavement Counselling Service at an exciting point in its development. This senior clinical leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee a national service delivering safe, high-quality, time-limited bereavement counselling within a strong, values-led organisation.
From spring 2026, our service will transition to a Single Session Therapy (SST) model, improving access, responsiveness and outcomes for people experiencing grief. You will play a key role in leading this change, supporting clinicians to adapt practice while maintaining robust clinical governance and safeguarding.
The Role
As Clinical Services Manager, you will lead the day-to-day clinical delivery of our Online Bereavement Counselling and Palliative Care Counselling services. Working closely with the Head of Bereavement and Grief Services and the Clinical Director, you will ensure the service is high quality, safe and confidential, delivered across the stepped care model, including Level 3 interventions (NICE guidance). You will provide clinical and line management leadership to counsellors and team leaders, oversee risk management and safeguarding, and drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity and user experience.
About You
You will be an experienced, accredited clinician with a strong background in bereavement, loss and grief work, and proven experience leading clinical or counselling services. You will be confident working with time-limited or brief therapy approaches and motivated by service development, innovation and meaningful impact. This home-based role offers flexibility, influence and the opportunity to lead a service through a significant and exciting period of change.
Minimum essential criteria for this role:
- Accreditation with BACPA Diploma/Degree in Counselling or Psychotherapy.
- A Supervision qualification, ideally with accreditation.
- Extensive experience in bereavement, loss, and grief counselling.
- Experience leading and managing large counselling teams and services.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and online service provision.
- Knowledge of clinical tools such as the Adult Attitude to Grief Scale.
