Job summary
Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is located at Keighley Rd, Oxenhope, Keighley BD22 9HJ. The position offers 37.5 hours per week with a pay range of £15.57 - £16.94 per hour (£30,437.80 - £33,116.98 per annum), plus a 30% enhancement for nights and weekends and continuation of NHS pension.

About the Role:
In palliative care, no day is the same. Working on our inpatient unit provides a unique opportunity because we care for patients with a variety of conditions and symptoms. If you would like to develop your knowledge of many different conditions and the impact this has on patients and their families, a role in palliative care with Sue Ryder is for you.
Our nurses play an indispensable role in providing compassionate, holistic care for patients with life-limiting illnesses. Their work extends beyond medical tasks, encompassing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support for both patients and their families.
Our registered nurses work on a rotational shift pattern, including early shifts, late shifts, long days, nights, and weekends. As this role supports a 24/7 service, we are seeking candidates with flexibility to work a range of shifts as required.
The successful applicants will play an active role within our multidisciplinary team, working alongside Specialty Doctors, therapy staff, volunteers, and other vital members of the MDT, taking a holistic approach in providing the best possible outcomes for each patient.
About us:
Sue Ryder is here to ensure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure, and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with emotional, practical, and spiritual support.
We provide care in our inpatient unit and our CNS team is on hand to visit people and provide care for those in their own home.
Job responsibilities:
- Providing support, leadership, recognition, and supervision to junior members of staff
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised clinical care for service users
- Using evidence-based practice to develop and maintain high-quality care
- Ensuring that the team provides all care in line with the care plan
- Helping to organise the admission and discharge of service users
Qualifications:
Essential:
- NMC registration and experience delivering inclusive patient care
- Successful completion of UK based preceptorship
- Ability to assess, plan, and deliver care with appropriate adjustments
- Skilled in accessible documentation and patient communication
- Commitment to upholding patients' dignity, rights, and autonomy
Desirable:
- Experience in palliative or hospice care
- Mentorship qualification or experience supporting learners
We will provide a thorough induction with supernumerary time to settle into the role and full training/competency assessment will be provided. There is plenty of scope to further develop your own skills in specialist palliative care, and planned career progression through our education programme and development framework is encouraged.
