A Registered Nurse at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice will work 37.5 hours per week on a rotational basis, including days, nights, and weekends, with a salary ranging from £15.79 to £17.02 per hour (plus enhancements and competitive benefits).
In palliative care, no day is the same. Working on our inpatient unit provides a unique opportunity to care for patients with a variety of conditions and symptoms. Our nurses play an indispensable role in providing compassionate, holistic care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, extending beyond medical tasks to encompass emotional, psychological, and spiritual support for both patients and their families.
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice is Gloucestershire's only inpatient unit for specialist palliative care, supporting people aged 18 and over living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure, and lung disease. We provide care on our inpatient unit, virtually, and in person through our community hub and in people's homes through our Hospice at Home service.

Job Responsibilities:
- Providing support, leadership, recognition, and supervision to junior members of staff
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised clinical care for service users
- Using evidence-based practice to develop and maintain high-quality care
- Ensuring that the team provides all care in line with the care plan
- Helping to organise the admission and discharge of service users
Person Specification:
Essential:
- NMC registration and experience delivering inclusive patient care
- Ability to assess, plan, and deliver care with appropriate adjustments
- Skilled in accessible documentation and patient communication
- Commitment to upholding patients' dignity, rights, and autonomy
Desirable:
- Experience in palliative or hospice care
- Mentorship qualification or experience supporting learners
We will provide a thorough induction with supernumerary time to settle into the role, and full training/competency assessment will be provided. There is plenty of scope to further develop your own skills in specialist palliative care, and planned career progression through our education programme and development framework is encouraged.
