Shop Manager – Basingstoke, Sue Ryder Charity shop, 21-23 Wote St, Basingstoke RG21 7NE

Hours: 37.5 per week (over 7 days), Pay: £12.94 per hour + rewards & benefits

Responsibilities

  • Use retail experience to drive business, push sales and achieve targets.
  • Lead the team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
  • Work with the local community to generate donated stock to support sales.
  • Recruit, train and retain a volunteer team, providing leadership and guidance.
  • Set high standards of merchandising, housekeeping, and health & safety.
  • Manage effective stock processes to ensure the shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock at all times.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in‑store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
  • Operate Epos for stock and sales management.

Minimum Essential Criteria

  • Customer service experience
  • People management experience (reviews, 1:1s, volunteer recruitment, team meetings)
  • KPI and target experience
  • Strong IT skills (admin, emails, instant messaging, video calls)
  • Organisational skills
  • Lone working experience

Desirable Criteria

  • High street retail or charity retail managerial experience
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills or equivalent
  • Background in high street retail, leisure or hospitality
  • Experience in merchandising/stock rotation
