Charity Shop Volunteer

Be there when it matters as a Sue Ryder Volunteer.

As a Sue Ryder Volunteer in one of our charity shops, you will be one of the store’s friendly faces, helping us to provide the best customer experience whilst playing an important role in raising funds for our Palliative and Bereavement services.

The role:
Our Sue Ryder shop volunteer roles are filled with variety and can cover many aspects of the role of a shop volunteer including:

  1. Donations and Gift Aid – meet donors, receive donations, sign donors up to Gift Aid
  2. Sorting, labelling, pricing of stock
  3. Greeting and helping customers
  4. Serving customers on the till (training provided)
  5. Maintaining shop displays, re-stocking
  6. Light cleaning/tidying duties to keep the shop inviting and well presented

More bespoke roles may include:

  1. PAT testing
  2. Upcycling
  3. Social media and photography

About you:

  1. Enjoy helping and engaging with customers
  2. Be enthusiastic and pro-active
  3. Have the ability to work as part of a team
  4. Be reliable

Working as a volunteer at one of our Sue Ryder shops is not only a rewarding way to learn new and transferable skills but also a fantastic chance to make new friends and become part of your local community. Plus, you will receive a volunteer discount on donated goods.

We are happy to discuss arranging one of our friendly taster sessions so that you may meet the team and see the shop.

Please note – we do have a minimum age requirement in our shops of 18.
