Sue Ross Legal are working on behalf of our client, a specialist claimant law team, seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson to support its expanding practice. This is an opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative group dedicated to helping clients secure fair compensation following medical or clinical negligence. You’ll be joining a growing department of fee-earners who are committed to delivering high-quality legal work and exceptional client care. The team handles complex, life-changing injury matters and values professionalism, empathy and accuracy.
Working closely with the Head of Costs, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely costs documentation. Key duties include:
- Preparing N260 statements of costs
- Drafting Bills of Costs (3-column and Precedent S formats) for submission to paying parties and the Court
- Using phase, task and activity time-recording
- Negotiating costs and managing Provisional/Detailed Assessment applications
- Preparing Part 8 “Costs Only” proceedings
- Meeting WIP targets, managing deadlines, and supporting senior colleagues as required
What You’ll Bring
- Legal qualification (desirable)
- Extensive experience in claimant personal injury costs drafting
- Proven ability to draft and finalise Bills of Costs, including Multi-Track and budgeted Clinical Negligence matters
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Experience with systems such as Proclaim or Costs Master (advantageous)
- Ability to work independently within a supportive team environment
