This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys combining financial management with business improvement and systems development. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a key role in providing meaningful financial insight, driving efficiencies, and supporting informed business decision-making. As Commercial Finance & Systems Lead, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis while helping to improve systems, processes and operational performance across the business. Key responsibilities will include: * Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports. * Producing cashflow forecasts, budgets and financial planning information. * Managing payroll processes and ensuring accuracy and compliance. * Overseeing stock accounting, reconciliations and valuations. * Monitoring job, project and departmental profitability. * Analysing margins, costs and performance trends, highlighting areas for improvement. * Maintaining robust financial controls and supporting VAT returns, year-end accounts and external audits. * Supporting the implementation and enhancement of accounting, CRM and business management systems. * Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, finance and administrative processes. * Providing clear and practical financial information to Directors and departmental managers. * Collaborating with stakeholders across the business to support operational and commercial objectives. The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional with strong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to improving business performance. You will ideally have: * Previous experience within a finance, management accounting or commercial accounting role. * Experience preparing management accounts, forecasts, budgets and financial reports. * Knowledge of payroll processes and financial controls. * Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess profitability, margins and costs. * Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting software. * The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues. * Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Desirable Skills & Experience * AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience. * Experience within manufacturing, construction, aggregates, engineering or a related industry. * Knowledge of stock accounting and job costing. * Experience implementing or improving finance, CRM or ERP systems. * Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting software. You will be: * Commercially focused with a genuine interest in business performance. * Hands-on, proactive and solutions-driven. * A strong communicator with excellent problem-solving skills. * Trustworthy, adaptable and capable of working independently. * Passionate about improving processes and driving efficiencies.
