Sue Ross Recruitment are working on behalf of our client, a highly respected professional services firm, to recruit a Practice/Office Manager on a permanent basis. This position can be full-time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (c25 hours per week over 4 or 5 days). This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, multi-site business with Head Offices in Chesterfield. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Chesterfield office, while also supporting business functions across other locations. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to work at the heart of a collaborative and professional team. This is a varied and rewarding role, perfect for someone with excellent organisational skills and a passion for operational excellence. You’ll take ownership of staff resource planning, project and office management, HR coordination, compliance, and more – ensuring all teams are supported, systems are effective, and office functions run smoothly. Key Responsibilities for the Practice/Office Manager role: * Staff resource planning using CMap software, including allocation of skills and experience to projects * Project set-up and management, ensuring all documentation and files are accurately maintained * Office management including telephone answering, managing shared inboxes, stationery, PPE, and refreshments * HR administration including recruitment coordination, contract management, onboarding, and employee engagement * Professional development admin – tracking qualifications and CPD, and coordinating forums * IT and data protection support, ensuring staff have access to required hardware and software * Premises management – coordinating cleaners, landlords, maintenance, utilities, and archiving * Insurance administration, from renewals to claims handling * Compliance – managing subcontractor admin, procurement, legal documentation, and quality assurance * Health & Safety admin, including provision of first aiders, fire marshals, DSE and workplace assessments * Social values and sustainability – leading on carbon management and energy efficiency initiatives Candidate Requirements for the Practice/Office Manager role: * Proven leadership experience across multiple business support functions * Strong skills in organisation, planning, and communication * Experience in HR administration, office management, or project coordination * Comfortable using systems such as CMap or similar project/resource planning tools * Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, professional environment * Knowledge of compliance, insurance, data protection, or H&S is highly desirable * Must be office-based in Chesterfield, with occasional travel to Leeds and Cambridge What’s on Offer for the Practice/Office Manager role: * Salary of £27,000 – £30,000 for part-time hours / £40,000 – £45,000 FTE * Choice of full-time (37.5 hrs) or part-time (25 hrs over 4 or 5 days) * Office-based role * A varied and impactful role within a well-respected organisation * Opportunities to improve processes and contribute to staff engagement and company culture This is an outstanding organisation to work with and the successful candidate will enjoy being part of a dynamic and forward thinking team culture.
