Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a specialist Clinical Negligence firm of solicitors in the recruitment of a part-time Law Costs Draughtsperson, working 2-3 days a week (14 to 21 hours per week). This role will involve supporting the Head of Costs and fee-earners by preparing formal bills and supplementary documents for detailed assessment across intermediate and multi-track cases, as well as negotiating and budgeting work.
Your role will involve but is not limited to:
- Preparing N260 statements of costs and risk assessments.
- Completing Precedent S and Q documents and initiating Detailed Assessment proceedings.
- Preparing Precedent H, Precedent T and Precedent Z in the costs management process.
- Negotiating costs and if necessary, requesting Provisional/Detailed Assessment.
- Drafting formal bills for inter partes detailed assessment.
- Working to WIP targets and adhering to deadlines set by supervisors.
Candidate requirements:
- Legal qualification (LLB, LPC, CLSB) desirable.
- Demonstrable experience of working in costs drafting within claimant personal injury sector.
- Proficient in drafting Bills of Costs and, preferably, Precedent H, R, and Q, and finalising bills in Multi Track and budgeted cases.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Civil Procedures Rules and Detailed Assessment process.
- Experience with Proclaim Case Management System and Costs Master software preferred.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
