Sue Ross Recruitment are working on behalf of our client, a highly respected public sector organisation, to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive Council finance team where you will act as a key financial advisor to specific service areas. The successful candidate will provide expert financial analysis, support, and guidance to service managers, ensuring resources are used effectively, budgets are well managed, and strategic objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities for the Finance Business Partner role:

* Ensure compliance with financial regulations, controls, and procedures, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards.

* Support the Section 151 Officer by ensuring robust internal controls are in place to meet statutory responsibilities.

* Provide proactive financial advice to service managers, helping them manage budgets and achieve value for money.

* Produce and present clear, concise financial reports to support decision-making at all levels.

* Use financial analysis and insight to support business cases, investment decisions and option appraisals.

* Support annual budget setting, forecasting, and monitoring, ensuring financial sustainability.

* Identify and manage financial risks, developing mitigation strategies where needed.

* Complete grant claims and statutory financial returns within required deadlines.

* Deliver financial training and advice to non-financial staff.

* Identify opportunities for efficiencies, cost savings, and process improvements across financial systems and reporting.

* Work collaboratively with finance colleagues and other departments to deliver a cohesive financial management approach.

* Support ad hoc financial projects and provide guidance as required.

Candidate Requirements for the Finance Business Partner role:

* Proven experience within a finance role, ideally in local government or a large, complex organisation.

* Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and budget management.

* Ability to provide clear financial advice and reports to both finance and non-finance staff.

* Skilled in financial planning, modelling, and analysis.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

* Strong problem-solving ability with a focus on value for money and efficiency.

* Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results to deadlines.
