In this varied and hands-on position, you will personally manage a defended caseload, utilising a case management system to progress matters efficiently and effectively. You will review complex or high-value pre-legal debts, assess suitability for litigation, and take ownership of claims across small claims, fast track, intermediate and multi-track. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to communicate with individuals at all levels. You will also collaborate with courts, enforcement agencies, and external suppliers to maintain excellent service delivery.

Workstreams may include:

  • Breach of contract
  • Insolvency actions (Bankruptcy/Winding Up Petitions)

Plus opportunities to work on niche or specialist areas depending on your experience. Continuous learning is strongly encouraged, and if of interest, you can contribute to training, development, and quality improvement across the department.

  • A law degree or equivalent legal qualification
  • Qualification as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Practical experience in debt collection
  • Previous experience managing defended Small Claims Track matters (preferred)
  • Strong IT skills and willingness to learn new systems
  • Effective problem‑solving abilities and sound judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence handling phone communication
  • Ability to work to targets and tight deadlines
