The predicted salary is between 28800 - 33600 £ per year.

An interim job opportunity for 12 months, working 4 days per week including 3 days onsite in central London. Salary is pro rata of £48k FTE.

The Lead Archivist is a strategic leadership and managerial position responsible for the total management, preservation, and creative initiatives of the Archives.

Key Job Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide strategic leadership of the Archive
  • Lead a core team of Archivists
  • Drive the service towards Archive Service Accreditation
  • Act as an ambassador for the archives externally and champion the archive internally
  • Oversee high-quality public programming
  • Act as the authority on collection standards, establishing the intellectual frameworks and preservation policies required

This is a busy role that would suit an experienced Archivist who can provide the leadership required for the continued development of the Archives, with support from the department. You will have expert knowledge of Archival standards and practices. You will have the ability to manage a small team of Archivists. You will have strong interpersonal skills and a passion for your work. A professional qualification in Archives and Records Management is desirable, or significant equivalent experience in a similar leadership level in Archives.

This is a great opportunity for the Lead Archivist to work in a busy but positive environment, within a really interesting organisation seeking to leverage the Archives into their public services. Preferred start date in April.
