A group of popular clothing and footwear brands is seeking a Womenswear Designer for a 1-year fixed-term contract. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of seasonal trends and a passion for innovative design. You will research seasonal themes, colours, and fabrics based on the brief and create original design sketches and technical specifications to align with seasonal goals. It’s essential to maintain knowledge of trends and fashion history to advise on silhouettes, finishes, and fabric choices.
Collaboration is crucial, as you will work closely with the Sales Team and Head of Design to build seasonal ranges and assist with daily tasks. You will keep organized records of all design and development details, including fabric specifics and prints, to ensure a smooth process. Additionally, you will compile specification sheets and technical packs to support clear communication within the team. Your responsibilities will include following range plans and critical paths to meet deadlines. Attending fit sessions will allow you to make necessary changes to specifications and tech packs, which you will communicate to suppliers. You will also deliver development samples on time and keep them organized in the office.
We are looking for someone with:
- A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in design roles focused on outerwear, athleisure, and performance wear within the fashion, athleisure, and outdoor industries.
- Strong understanding of garment construction techniques and pattern cutting.
- Extensive experience in fit, fabric development, finishes, and construction details.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to meet deadlines and provide timely solutions.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive, possessing excellent communication skills.
