About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing maritime technology innovator developing cutting-edge wind-assisted propulsion systems. Their mission is to drastically reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions across the global shipping industry. As they scale, they are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will manage the entire design lifecycle—from initial concept and detailed design to manufacturing release and operational hardware. The Role & Responsibilities

  • Design Ownership: Lead the mechanical design of subsystems from concept through to manufacturing release.
  • Technical Execution: Produce high-quality 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and necessary engineering calculations.
  • Manufacturing Liaison: Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve standards and reduce costs.
  • International Coordination: Act as the engineering interface with international suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Problem Solving: Rapidly resolve design issues based on feedback from manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Mentorship: Guide and review the work of junior engineers to maintain high standards of integrity and safety.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: 5–10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design within a production environment.
  • Industry Background: Proven track record in the Marine, Wind, or Offshore sectors.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Siemens NX, Inventor, or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
  • Fabrication Knowledge: Strong experience with large structural assemblies, welding, and fabrication.
  • Standards: Familiarity with class or certification requirements (e.g., DNV or LR).
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to manufacturing plants in China (approximately 1 week per quarter) and visit various supplier sites.
  • Language (Highly Desirable): Fluency or partial fluency in Mandarin is a significant advantage and may command a higher salary bracket.
