General Manager – Substation Brixton £60,000–£80,000 + benefits · Full-time · Brixton, London
Substation is an independent, boutique bouldering and wellness club with sites in Brixton and Macclesfield. Alongside climbing, the Brixton site offers The Wild (our forest-themed climbing space for children), a sauna and cold plunge, yoga, fitness and calisthenics classes, a café, coaching and events, all delivered to a premium standard.
We're a community-focused business, and sustainability is built into how we operate – from our meat-free café to plastic-free retail and responsible sourcing.
We're looking for an experienced General Manager to be fully accountable for the whole Brixton site and its P&L: its team, its customers and its commercial performance.

You'll be an experienced General Manager from a high-end, multi-faceted venue – for example a premium health club, a private members' club, a spa or a luxury hotel.
Lead and develop the site management team: Studio/Fitness Manager, Operations Manager, Sales and Outreach Manager, Corporate Outreach Manager and Routesetting Manager and Duty Managers
Take full accountability for the site P&L and budget, reporting to the founders

Deliver a consistently premium experience: service, cleanliness and presentation
Oversee health and safety, compliance, facilities and maintenance
Work with the founders on programming, marketing and sustainability
Make full use of the centre during quieter, off-peak times – for example through corporate, group and community bookings
Proven senior management experience in hospitality, leisure or members' clubs
Full site P&L accountability in a previous GM role, with strong commercial skills
Proven experience leading and developing other managers, as well as large teams
Operational knowledge of F&B, memberships, events and ideally spa or wellness facilities
A visible, hands-on management style and high service standards
A demonstrable track record of improving customer experience in previous GM roles, with results to show for it
Happy to work regular evenings and weekends, our busiest times
Climbing experience is not required.
£60,000–£80,000, depending on experience
A personal development budget
Free climbing, yoga and fitness classes, sauna and plunge use and gym entry
Café discount and staff kit
29 days annual leave
Bonus scheme
A senior role working directly with the founders
The chance to shape one of London's most community-focused climbing centres, with real autonomy and direct access to the Directors
