Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, giving the brightest, most interesting, and most creative people on the internet the power of their own publishing platform.

Substack empowers independent writers, artists, videographers, podcasters, and creators of all types to create, share, and make a living off their work through subscriptions, while offering them creative freedom, ownership, and a direct connection to their audiences.

The UK is Substack’s second largest market, with a fast growing network of publishers and creators spanning culture, food, history, gardening, current affairs, sports, and more.

This year, we’ve also hired the first leads for nine new international territories from Australia to Brazil, to accelerate the organic growth of Substack around the world.

We’re recruiting an ambitious, proactive and highly organised Project Manager to help coordinate our UK and international activity, from helping set up unique events for our Bestsellers and target publishers, to creating online resources and presentations for events and conferences, as well as being a central point of contact for our growing international team.

As Project Manager you will work closely with Substack’s Head of International to coordinate our international operations as well as leading select international projects.

You will also work closely with the UK team providing logistical support for our creator and publisher events as well as the day-to-day running of the UK office.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly skilled at organisation and who can adapt to a constantly changing environment.

It’s a role that will suit someone excited to make their mark and excel in a new role; genuinely passionate about culture and Substack’s mission, and capable of working autonomously to an exceptional standard.

  • KEY SKILL SET
  • At least 1-2 years experience working in a creative industries or tech environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ideally with experience of working with or for high profile individuals across culture, media or politics
  • A keen interest in writing and culture, with experience of pulling together high quality presentation decks and creating educational resources to support the team and creator network
  • A keen understanding of data and budgets
  • Enthusiasm to work with Substack bestsellers across all verticals, including leading creator masterclasses on occasion.
  • Exceptional organisation and diary management skills, with a willingness to work across international time zones.
  • Creatively minded and naturally proactive, with experience of managing upwards effectively.

This position is largely remote with a high level of trust.

You will be asked to come into the central London office one to two days a week as well as work occasional early mornings or evenings when supporting events.

There may be occasional remote meetings that fall outside of standard working hours but we operate a flexible working policy.

There are also four annual offsites to locations in the US.

Our cash compensation range for this role is £45,000 - £50,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Substack is an equal opportunity employer.

All applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or transgender status), age, national origin, veteran or disability status.

We’re seeking people passionate about enabling independent expression and building a better business model for creators.

If you want to see what media, communities, and content can become when unmoored from advertising models, and you have the skills and experience to contribute, we’d love to meet you.
