Overview

We are looking for an AI Compliance & Security Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen on a permanent basis.

The AI Compliance & Security Engineer will play a key role in supporting Subsea7's AI strategy by helping establish a secure, compliant, and well-governed AI environment.

The role requires a keen willingness to learn and evaluate emerging AI technologies, for example Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Claude, Gemini, translating that knowledge into practical governance, security, and risk management controls.

Working closely with IT, Security, Legal, Data, and business teams, the individual will help define and maintain AI guardrails, policies, standards, and approved usage patterns.

They will assess new AI capabilities, identify security, privacy, compliance, and operational risks, and proactively highlight gaps in functionality, controls, or organisational readiness.

Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as the role will act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are adopted safely, responsibly, and effectively across Subsea7.

What will you be doing?

  • Design, implement and maintain security controls across AI platforms, cloud services, enterprise applications and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, secure and monitor AI solutions, including Generative AI, machine learning platforms and AI-enabled business applications.
  • Develop and automate security processes, detections and response capabilities using AI and security orchestration technologies.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with AI adoption, including data leakage.
  • Work closely with data, software engineering and cloud teams to embed security into AI development and deployment lifecycles.
  • Support the Information Security Manager and collaborate with technical teams across the organisation.
  • Provide technical security guidance for AI initiatives.
  • Conduct security assessments, threat modelling and architecture reviews for AI and technology solutions.
  • Monitor threat intelligence, emerging vulnerabilities and developments within the AI threat landscape, recommending appropriate remediation activities.
  • Support security incident investigations, including incidents involving AI systems, and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support compliance and audit activities related to cybersecurity, data protection and AI governance requirements.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Extensive experience in a cybersecurity engineering, security operations or security architecture role.
  • Experience working with AI technologies, Generative AI platforms, machine learning environments or AI governance and security controls.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks and best practices(e. g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Knowledge of AI security risks and controls, including model security, prompt injection, data privacy, AI supply chain risks and secure AI adoption practices.
  • Experience securing enterprise technologies utlising AI, including Microsoft stack, Google, Anthropic, Github, etc. with track record of applying security controls to these platforms.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms and security architectures, particularly Microsoft Azure.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess risk, prioritise work effectively and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills, with a proactive and innovative approach to security challenges.
