We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team developing advanced control systems and user interfaces for autonomous marine vessels. You will design intuitive, high-performance software—from operator interfaces to robust autonomy and communication modules—while contributing to testing, documentation, and team-wide code quality.
Responsibilities
- Software design and development in line with the system requirements, with focus on user interfaces, communication and autonomy.
- Designing and delivering user interfaces for controlling and monitoring mobile platforms, with a focus on user experience and usability.
- Testing and validation of software, including unit testing, bench testing, and sea trials.
- Production of comprehensive software documentation.
- Conducting peer reviews to ensure designs are fit for purpose, extensible and re-usable.
- Working flexibly with the software and engineering teams to ensure software and documentation are delivered on time.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in Computer Science, Mechatronics or similar, or equivalent industry experience.
- Software development experience in modern C++ (14 or newer).
- User interface and/or graphics development experience (Qt preferable).
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with Qt QML, and/or Qt C++ bindings.
- User interface and graphics development experience.
- User experience (UX) research and design.
- Experience with ROS or ROS2.
- Experience with mobile robotics projects.
- Experience with graphical tools such as Photoshop, Blender, Illustrator.
- A proactive individual with strong commitment and self-motivation.
