Job Description
Under guidance from a Senior or Principal Engineer the Subsea Structural Design Engineer will provide engineering skills to the Structures discipline. Compliance with project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required. The Subsea Structural Design Engineer will work as part of a team but may have responsibility for discrete work packages.
- Provide support to the Structures engineering team, including supporting other engineering disciplines within Subsea7.
- Works as part of the project team, supporting the Principal/Senior in performing engineering for successful project delivery.
- Under supervision, evaluates, organises and prioritises work which is subject to internal checking and approval.
- Undertakes with supervision analysis, design and engineering activities associated with Subsea Structural Design โ calculations, analysis, reports, detailed drawings (GA & Fabrication), concept development/selection and ownership of material take off.
- Originates technical deliverables, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy ensuring compliance with codes, standards and client specifications for approval by a Senior Engineer.
- Identifies project opportunities, raising them to the required personnel.
- Competent in identifying technical clarifications, originating technical queries and deviation requests.
- Provide regular feedback to the project/discipline Lead Engineer on workload and requests for additional support if required.
- Ensure full traceability of the technical development of the assigned scope throughout the life of the project.
- Ensure engineering performed is effective and quality driven.
- Actively engage in knowledge sharing, capture of Lessons Learned and application of Engineering Standards.
- Ensures all relevant safety objectives are adhered to.
- Promote personal CPD (Continued Professional Development) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community.
- Maintain communication with the Structures discipline engineering manager, in combination with project leads and senior engineers where appropriate.
- Work efficiently to a high standard under the guidance of an allocated engineering mentor.
What experience would we like you to have?
- Degree qualified, preferably in Structural/Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Competent of using global structural analysis and FEA analysis software (such as STAAD Pro, Ansys, Abaqus etc.)
- Can conduct structural analysis and design under limited instructions.
- Able to carry out structural hand calculations.
- Competent to verify designs undertaken by other engineers within the discipline.
- Good Understanding of code and standard such as ASME, AISC, ISO, Eurocode, API and DNV.
- Able to work in allocated man-hour budget.
- Proficient in writing Technical Reports and Technical Notes.
- Able to create Technical Queries or Deviation Requests as Originator.
- Confident to deliver Technical Design Reviews.#LI-AB1
