Overview

In this role you will lead the Vessel Superintendent function within the Offshore Delivery Team in Westhill, Aberdeen, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑availability vessels and crew. You will work closely with Master, Chief Engineer, and stakeholders to manage maintenance, budgets, and HSEQ activities while enabling offshore project execution. The position involves potential international travel to support a globally deployable fleet. You will shape safety culture, oversight of regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across vessel operations. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on asset performance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Master and Chief Engineer to execute IMO, Class, Flag and ISM responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a strong safety culture and align with HSEQ activities
  • Prepare and present technical, financial and safety reviews
  • Ensure vessels remain within Class and Flag state requirements
  • Ensure compliance with IMO/ISM/industry standards including IMCA
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance within budget and timelines
  • Plan, prepare and execute major works (dry docking, Capex) with defined scope and schedule
  • Contribute to maintenance procedure, standard, and policy improvements
  • Manage vessel spares and consumables inventory within budget
  • Monitor catering performance with the Master
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for maintenance, repair, and onshore support
  • Organise engineering support for capacity growth CAPEX and its costing
  • Maintain cost-effective marine crew and technicians with Offshore staffing
  • Conduct Annual Performance Reviews of Captain and Chief Engineer

Key requirements

  • Extensive offshore experience or onshore technical management of marine vessels in a senior engineering capacity
  • Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC with substantial sea-going experience
  • Extensive knowledge of vessel engineering systems, operational capabilities, and performance limitations
  • In-depth knowledge of IMO, Class, Flag State, ISM, and regulatory requirements
  • Engineering, maintenance, and operational management of offshore construction and support vessels
  • Technical leadership and engineering oversight across a diverse vessel fleet
  • Strong leadership, managerial, and organisational skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Stakeholder management and ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Commercial awareness supporting operational decision-making, risk management, and asset performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; ability to produce high-quality reports
