Overview

In this role you will lead HSE performance for UKGIRM, shaping regional strategy and culture. You will partner with Country HSE Leads to secure resources, drive improvement plans, and ensure alignment with Group HSE standards. You will oversee audits, incident investigations, and regional readiness activities, while developing people and capabilities. You will work with cross-functional teams to manage regulatory reporting and external audits, contributing to safer, healthier, and more sustainable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to regional HSEQ strategy and monitor performance against targets
  • Develop and implement region-level improvement plans
  • Maintain Business Management System documents and provide technical input
  • Manage pre-LMT and LMT review schedules and agendas
  • Oversee regional action verification, performance reporting, and trend analysis
  • Oversee Worksite Readiness programme and assign delivery teams (Synergi reporting)
  • Review HSE resource plans with Country HSE Leads for deployment
  • Foster environment, health, and wellbeing improvements and regional plans
  • Ensure clarity of Country HSE Leads' roles and objectives via Compass
  • Provide recruitment support to maintain HSE resources
  • Manage regional HSE audit programme and track findings for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate emergency response exercise scheduling with Country HSE Leads
  • Support HSEQ Director and Quality Manager with management reviews and improvement actions
  • Liaise with Quality, SCM, and Engineering on supplier HSE performance and improvement plans
  • Support external audits (third-party, local authorities, clients)
  • Oversee incident and near-miss investigations and coaching
  • Oversee HSE input into tendering activity
  • Liaise with regulators (HSE Diving Inspectors, SEPA) and handle regulatory reporting

Key requirements

  • Extensive HSE experience in subsea or wider energy sector, including EPIC/IRM projects
  • Experience building and developing a HSE team
  • IOSH Chartered Member (or working towards)
  • Strong HSE risk management and change management knowledge
  • Lead Auditor experience
  • Proven incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities
  • Proven leadership with coaching and performance management
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication at all levels
  • Organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
