Do you want to split your time between planning logistics and hitting the road occasionally as a relief driver? We’re looking for a dynamic Operations Planner & Relief Van Driver to join our busy Exeter depot. In this hybrid role, you’ll be at the heart of our transport operations helping to plan daily logistics and jumping in behind the wheel when needed to support our delivery network nationwide.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operational Planning (Primary Focus)
- Manage driver schedules and optimise vehicle use for cost-effective delivery routes.
- Respond quickly and professionally to client requests via phone, email or fax.
- Record jobs accurately using our internal data management system.
- Liaise with clients and service providers to ensure high service levels are maintained.
- Spot and suggest ways to improve efficiency and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years experience in a transport operations or planning role.
- Comfortable working with drivers, customers and logistics partners.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Good understanding of route planning and vehicle utilisation.
- Valid Level D Aviation Security and Hazardous Awareness certifications.
- Flexible to cover van driving duties across the UK when needed.
- Aviation security knowledge and ISO/BSI awareness (desirable).
