Who Are We

Subdial is the watch trading platform for collectors. We make discovering and trading the most collectable watches simple and fun.

Every week we release a curated selection of preowned watches to our network of over 50,000 collectors. Our platform allows users to manage their collection, track prices, and trade watches in / out with ease.

We were founded six years ago, out of a deep passion for collectable watches and a desire to modernise collecting. We’re recognised as one of the most exciting startups in the luxury market, and aim to be the biggest player in the UK market within 2-3 years.

We’re growing quickly and adding to our fantastic team based out of East London.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Photographer to join our in-house photography team, as we expand our studio operations and capacity. Reporting to the Art Director, this role will take ownership of our daily photo production processes. Delivering high quality imagery to enrich our product listing pages and continue to provide our network of collectors with a best-in-class experience when trading watches online.

In addition to scaling our weekly output capacity, this role will look to coordinate our existing product photo operations. Providing valuable oversight in day-to-day process, workflow, and studio management. This includes coordination of products arriving in the studio, overseeing the production schedule as products move through the workflow, and ensuring all assets are captured to the highest quality as new watches are uploaded to the site.

This role requires someone that has a meticulous attention to detail, a high level of collaborative skills, and thrives to help build smooth, fluid processes and workflow within a studio environment. Taking initiative to test new photo solutions, tackle unique challenges, and collaborate across the business. Helping stakeholders to work smarter, not harder.

Working closely with art direction, this role will be fundamental in enhancing the visual identity of Subdial and expanding our reach within the watch collecting and wider watch community. Improving photography for our site, as well as key marketing channels, and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for shooting, monitoring and taking ownership of our weekly output across still-life ecommerce and on-model photography.
  • A process minded approach, consistently looking for ways to scale shooting capacity as Subdial grows. Tracking and reviewing productivity and workflow metrics, highlighting any pain points and bottlenecks.
  • Maintain high-quality standards of imagery across photographic content, ensuring colour and exposure consistency across multiple production types.
  • Working closely with art direction and sales team to ensure our photography is exceeding the needs of watch enthusiasts, enriching the collector experience.
  • Support with style guide/workflow updates to enhance our in-house technology processes and utilisation of assets across the company.
  • Support managing accounts with third party service providers and retouchers.
  • Support managing inventory of photography equipment and relationships with camera and lighting suppliers, including repairs and acquisition.
  • Contribute to creative content across marketing channels, supporting ideation and technical skills.

About You.

  • 5+ years of experience in product photography or adjacent within a high-volume studio environment.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality product photography as well as demonstrating an eye for editorial and visual storytelling.
  • Expert knowledge of photography, retouching and lighting techniques. Experience with jewellery or watches is desirable.
  • Proficient in Capture One, Adobe Creative Suite, Sony camera systems and Profoto lighting. Continuous lighting is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience with Studio management software and retouching partners such as Creative Force/Pixelz or similar.
  • Experience with DAM solutions, image metadata and file handling. A key focus on ensuring assets are evergreen both for internal and external purposes.
  • Excellent workload management and organisational capabilities.
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude as part of a growing photo studio and organisation.
  • Video experience is beneficial but not essential.
