Responsibilities- Planning and preparation of A-2-Sea survey projects
- Mobilisation and calibration of survey vessels
- Acquisition of hydrographic and geophysical data using a variety of survey equipment
- Survey data processing and production of deliverables
- Report writing and interpretation of results
- Development of A-2-Sea's processes and procedures
- Communicates with customers and customer representatives
- Proactive in making suggestions for where A2Sea can develop and improve methodologies and procedures
- Inputs technical detail into quotations and tenders
- Creation of Project Execution Plans to encompass the contracted specifications
- Understands the contractual arrangements of a project
- Production of line plans for project planning and subsequent data acquisition
- Understands and enforces A-2-Sea's safety, environment and quality policies
- Reviews and updates Method Statements and Procedures as required
- Carries out the role of Party Chief onboard 24hr vessels operating multibeam and geophysical sensors (SSS, Mag and SBP)
- Creates operational plans and manages timescales on a daily basis
- Manages personnel on site including A2Sea employees and contractors to ensure work is conducted efficiently
- Leads vessel mobilisations (positioning systems, multibeam systems and USBL systems)
- Carries out data QA and QC throughout data acquisition
- Data processing of bathymetry and navigation data to a high standard
- Proficient at writing various survey reports (including Mobilisation, Operations, Results)
- Able to work to schedules and meet deadlines
- Validates / reviews and prepares deliverables prior to submission to the customer
- Ability to lead vessel mobilisations
- A proactive, flexible approach to achieving tasks
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results
- Willing to work away from home for periods of 4 weeks, although periods away from home can vary from a few days to a few weeks
- Possession of a full, valid driving license
- 5+ years experience in a similar position
- A higher education degree in hydrographic surveying (ideally IHO Cat-A accredited) or related science-based subject
- Experience with a variety of survey equipment, including Kongsberg, NORBIT multibeam systems, positioning systems and USBL systems
- Knowledge of survey software for acquisition and processing, including QPS QINSy, Kongsberg SIS, BeamWorx AutoClean, Caris HIPS & SIPS, and Chesapeake SonarWiz
