The Group Financial Reporting Manager incorporates a blend of technical accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls and governance and business partnering with real exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the timely delivery of interim and annual Group financial reporting, including Group consolidations and key accounting judgements
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisers and pension advisers throughout the reporting process
- Prepare Audit & Risk Committee reporting, including analysis of key judgement areas
- Manage accounting for Group bonus and LTIP schemes
- Review subsidiary statutory accounts
- Monitor accounting standard developments and advise on implications for the Group
- Support ad hoc financial reporting projects, including acquisition accounting
- Work with external advisers to review corporation tax computations and ensure compliance
- Prepare interim and year-end tax provisions where required
- Oversee VAT controls and governance, including quarterly VAT returns and HMRC submissions
- Manage day-to-day relationships with tax advisers and HMRC
- Assess tax regulation changes and lead implementation plans to maintain compliance
- Support delivery of the internal audit plan alongside Internal Audit and the Audit & Risk Committee
- Contribute to testing of material controls in line with Corporate Governance Code requirements
- Oversee process mapping and documentation for key financial controls and processes
- Manage quarterly reviews and updates of risk registers across the Group
- Work with functional leaders to keep enabling risk registers current
- Maintain ledger and balance sheet integrity through oversight of key financial controls and reconciliations
- Line management responsibility for the Group Financial Accountant
The position incorporates a blend of technical accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls and governance, and therefore requires an individual with experience of working in a large firm or commercial business background.
Experience / Qualifications- Degree educated with a track record of high academic achievement
- CA/ACA qualified with relevant post-qualification experience
- Experience with technical accounting, plc reporting and other compliance requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially when interfacing with senior management, whether within or outside of finance, or external stakeholders
- Self-motivated and capable of developing the current role over time
- Creative thinker with excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Resilience in managing conflicting priorities and stakeholder expectations
- Work effectively and autonomously to engage and influence others
- Expert level use of Microsoft packages
