The Security Officer is based in our Pacific Quay office and is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the premises at all times. This position requires strong communication skills and excellent customer service as the Security Officer is the first point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders via telephone, email and face-to-face interactions. This role operates on a rota basis, covering a variety of day and night shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensuring the office is secured as appropriate at all times.
- Complete and maintain accurate accident and incident reports.
- Manage the issuing and verification of employee and visitor security passes.
- Deliver Health and Safety (H&S) Induction with all new employees.
- Monitoring the access control system at Pacific Quay and external properties.
- Monitoring the fire panel including isolating zones and liaising with Fire Officers during evacuations.
- Dealing with visitors and contractors, ensuring completion of Permit to Work if required.
- Conduct regular building safety checks including fire hazard inspections and checking fire extinguishers and H&S equipment.
- Answering switchboard calls and dealing with enquiries in a professional, efficient, and appropriate manner.
- Check and replenish first aid boxes.
- Undertake training on the use of defibrillator equipment.
- Monitoring fire exit doors and accessible toilet alarms.
- Regular testing of the fire and lift alarms.
- Checking and signing for packages.
- Arrange account and cash taxi bookings ensuring compliance with company policy.
- Operate CCTV systems to monitor the internal and external facilities.
- Assist in any other aspects of the Company’s work as reasonably required.
- Demonstrable experience in a Security related role is essential.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety.
- Previous experience of liaising with emergency service personnel such as Fire Officers.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proactive, with the ability to demonstrate initiative and willingness to take on responsibilities.
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, and Teams), as well as experience using Microsoft Edge.
- A full clean driver’s licence is desirable.
- First Aid qualifications are desired but not essential as training will be provided.
