An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Make Up Artist to join our STV News team based in Glasgow on a 6-month fixed term contract covering a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will apply make-up and style hair for our on-air presenters and studio guests across our news and current affairs programmes including Scotland Tonight, What’s On Scotland and supporting news programmes. This role will mainly be studio based but location work will also be required on occasion. This role will involve working primarily Monday – Thursday afternoon/evenings, 28 hours per week. Please note that flexibility around shift patterns will be required in line with programming requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
- Provide hair and make-up for on-air presenters and studio guests in a fast-paced environment.
- Responsible for maintaining the continuity of the presenters’ appearance on camera.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A proven track record of makeup artistry and hairdressing in the television industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge of and experience in applying a variety of hair and make-up techniques.
- Evidence of a practical understanding of lighting, particularly in the use of studio make-up.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team working skills to liaise effectively with colleagues, internal and external contacts at all levels.
- Evidence of effective organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work and adapt to changing priorities.
- Driven approach and use of own initiative, highly motivated to deliver against deadlines and challenges.
