About the Role:

We're seeking a motivated Junior Finance Analyst to join the Programme Management function at a Tier 1 Global Bank. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance graduate to gain hands-on experience in financial governance and assurance within a structured programme office.

Location: Birmingham (3 days a week in client's central Birmingham office, 2 days from home)

Rate: circa Β£35,000 p.a. (pro rata)

Contract: 6 months FTC (PAYE basis) with possibility of extension

What You'll Do:

  • Review programme and workstream financial data to check spend is tracking against approved budgets, flagging variances early
  • Provide independent assurance that financial reporting from workstream leads is accurate and complete before it reaches programme boards
  • Interrogate spend and forecast data to identify trends, risks, and anomalies for the programme office to act on
  • Challenge cost allocations and resource charging across workstreams to ensure they're correctly attributed
  • Produce data-driven insights and dashboards that give the programme office and senior stakeholders visibility of financial health across the programme

What We're Looking For:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (essential)
  • Strong Excel skills (essential) – able to manipulate data, build formulas, and produce clear analysis
  • Good organisational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with figures and structured reporting under deadlines
  • Interest or exposure to technology / IT change programmes (advantageous, not essential)
  • Interest in financial services (previous experience is a bonus but not essential)

Requirements:

  • Commute to our Birmingham office 3 days per week
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment
  • Willing to undergo a background vetting check
