- Helping us run a reliable, consistent and commercially focused finance function as StuRents continues to scale
- (Desirable) You have an interest in PropTech or the Tech start‑up space more broadly, you may have experience with SaaS businesses, but if not are eager to learn
- Reporting to the Head of Finance where you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day financial control environment, hire, manage and support a Finance Assistant, and make sure our month‑end, reporting, payroll, cash, VAT, year‑end and operational finance processes run smoothly
- You will also work closely with the Head of Finance on management reporting, budgets, financial modelling, and ad‑hoc analysis. This means the role is not only about closing the books; it is about helping the business understand performance and make better decisions
- (Desirable) Experience working with a finance ERP such as Xero
- We're looking for a qualified accountant (CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA) with strong foundations in financial control, working technical accounting knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP), financial modelling and reporting
- You have work experience in an industry role and/or practice audit and are now looking to manage the financial control function in a growing business
- (Desirable) Led on the preparation of statutory returns and been responsible for CoSec activities
- You are comfortable reviewing journals, reconciliations, accruals, deferred revenue, payroll entries, VAT returns and other core finance outputs before they are finalised
- You enjoy building clear processes and controls, but you also understand that in a growing technology business those processes need to be pragmatic, simple and easy for people to follow
- (Desirable) Have a basic understanding of SQL
- You have a friendly, personable and approachable communication style and are happy working with people across the company, including Commercial, People, Product, Research and Customer teams
- You are confident in managing your own workload, prioritising well and proactively making steady progress across daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual finance responsibilities
- You have previously managed, or are excited by the prospect of managing, a junior member of the team who may be completing an accounting qualification of their own
- You are curious and are excited by the prospect of preparing, modelling, analysing and presenting financial statements in a clear and insightful manner

What the job involves
- Own the month‑end close timetable, making sure reconciliations, journals, accruals, deferred revenue, payroll entries and recurring invoice reviews are completed accurately and on time
- Manage and prepare our annual accounts, monthly and quarterly management accounts, board pack inputs with clear commentary that helps leadership understand performance
- Oversee a Finance Assistant or equivalent on day‑to‑day and month‑end activity including bank reconciliations, invoice processing, accounts receivable, chargebacks and the finance inbox
- Review and manage key revenue, cost and operational finance processes and ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with IFRS and UK GAAP
- Help prepare any mandatory returns and work with external accounting support when necessary
- Manage the ERP system (Xero) so the chart of accounts, journals, reconciliations and reporting outputs meet the developing needs of the business
- Manage the Payroll system (HiBob) and partner with the Head of People on employee reward
- Assist leaders and the team with various ad‑hoc reports and analysis
- Improve processes and controls across the business and finance function, reducing manual work and making responsibilities clear as the company scales
