Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre
Salary: up to £39,605.59 per annum
Leeds International Study Centre and its programmes are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University.
You will work with colleagues across the centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our education strategy, broader scholarship and aims for an outstanding student experience. You will have oversight of the foundation Project Skills module and International Year one Studying and Research Skills module. You will also contribute to the centre’s provision for employability.
You will contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the centre. As a subject lead, you will contribute to the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials and delivery across a range of modules or within a subject area. The Subject Lead role may also have programme management responsibility of an IY1 programme. The role is supported through remission against overall teaching hours. The amount of remission will be proportionate to the volume of students on programme.
ABOUT THE ROLE- Provide academic coordination for designated module(s) in the role of Subject Lead
- Provide operational day to day management and support for a specified group of full time and/or sessional tutors
- Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programmes and the student life cycle
- Supervise progression tracking and similar student outcome-focused initiatives within a discrete subject area, operational within the centre, reporting on these to the Head of Department and Head of Curriculum and Progression
- Deputise for the Head of Department when necessary
- Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the centre
- Contribute to the delivery and assessment of provision
- Prepare module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, mark and provide feedback to students
- Update and maintain the Virtual Learning Environments (VLE, Studysmart)
- Work with the centre’s Student & Academic Services team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes
- Liaise with the Progression, Welfare and Support team to support students in achieving their progression aim
- Represent the department at external events e.g. enhancement and engagement activities with the partner universities
- Engage in scholarly activity to ensure the delivery of modules is current
- Implement quality assurance procedures at module level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of the programme to achieve high standards
- Fully use centre systems to log and monitor student attendance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student engagement
- Complete sponsor reports and academic reports for students
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area
- A Masters qualification is desirable
- Candidates holding a PhD will be particularly welcomed
- Experience of teaching in UK higher or further education and preferably a teaching qualification and experience of working with international students
