Royal Holloway University International Study Centre is looking for an experienced business specialist to lead the delivery of business modules at the ISC. As the centre expands and the number of business students increases, the ISC requires a subject lead for business who can manage a team of business tutors to drive up standards and ensure consistent delivery across business modules, at Foundation (RQF Level 3), Year One Undergraduate (RQF Level 4) and/or Pre-Masters (RQF Level 6) levels.
The ideal candidate would be someone with people management and module supervision experience who is looking to take a step towards a management role in a higher education setting but is also keen to continue teaching. You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our teaching, learning and assessment strategy, broader scholarship, and aims for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre.
The successful candidate will line manage up to 6 tutors and oversee the delivery of 13 business modules across the 3 programmes, as well as teach up to 15 hours per week with 10 hours of remission for subject lead duties.
ABOUT THE ROLE- Oversee the design, delivery, and development of modules offered by Royal Holloway University International Study Centre.
- Run weekly meetings and 1-1 meetings with members of the business team.
- Work with the Head of Business, Arts and Social Sciences to review and revise modules in line with the centre's review and enhancement strategy.
- Manage the assessment process for business modules, ensuring marking and moderation occurs in line with centre regulations and that all marks are accurate and entered correctly in advance of assessment boards.
- Support recruitment for the business team.
- Prepare and deliver teaching lectures, seminars, and tutorial sessions, with variable hours up to 15 hours per week.
- Write and prepare unit examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
- Mark students' formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.
- Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
- Work with the Centre's administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation, and registration programmes.
- Notify and liaise with colleagues to ensure all students receive appropriate ongoing welfare and progression support.
- Track students' academic journey and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support ongoing learning.
- Act as a Personal Tutor for one or more groups of students.
- Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.
- A master’s degree or significant relevant industry experience.
- Relevant Teaching Qualification or experience teaching international students in a HE setting.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Experience supervising one or more business modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector.
- Experience of teaching a range of Business modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector.
- The ability to teach accounting and finance or quantitative methods modules is highly desirable.
- Experience in a management position would also be desirable.
