Social Science Tutor

Contract type: Variable Hours (up to 25 hours) – Fixed Term (31/08/2026)

Location: Surrey, Surrey International Study Centre

Salary: up to £33.57 per hour

University of Surrey International Study Centre and its programmes are provided by Study Group. You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our teaching, learning, and assessment strategy, aiming for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and delivering teaching and learning materials across Business Economics modules at Foundation (RQF Level 3) and Year One Undergraduate (FHEQ Level 4) levels as a Tutor.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Contribute to the design, delivery, and development of modules offered by the Surrey International Study Centre
• Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, including seminars and tutorial sessions
• Write and prepare examinations and other assessments
• Mark assessments and provide feedback, tutorials, and student reports
• Develop and update course materials, including VLE content
• Assist with induction, orientation, and registration programs
• Liaise with colleagues to support student welfare and progression
• Track student progress and implement intervention strategies
• Act as an Academic Mentor
• Implement quality assurance procedures and contribute to course reviews
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement, and performance
• Participate in quality assurance meetings and standardisation activities

• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to programme management
• Maintain records and participate in training activities

ABOUT YOU

• A bachelor’s degree in a related subject area
• Master’s degree or PhD is advantageous
• Relevant teaching qualification
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Experience teaching in UK Higher or Further Education, preferably with international students
