Salary: up to Β£43,606.08 per annum

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Coordinate a team of Business Tutors to contribute to ensuring the best possible student outcomes and student experience on Business modules.
  • Support the Head of Business in recruiting new teaching staff according to Study Group policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate, encourage and support direct reports to participate in regular personal development activities, including development activities in the Centre.
  • Plan and undertake regular personal development as agreed with the line manager.
  • Teach modules, courses and sessions in agreement with the Head of Business.
  • Mark assessments and record and report on teaching and assessment activity, including ensuring data is submitted accurately and within deadlines.
  • Ensure all students receive effective assessment feedback.
  • Liaise with the Head of Dept. to plan and oversee the delivery of teaching and assessment.
  • Ensure Business Tutors teaching the programmes, courses and sessions are fully informed of the curriculum content, teaching schedules, assessment modes and deadlines; promote the best possible student outcomes and student experience.
  • Produce and maintain a set of agreed documentation for relevant courses and modules including course outlines, module handbooks, schemes of work and teaching material, with support and input from Business Tutors.
  • Review documentation regularly for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Ensure all assessments on the ISC VLE – our online platform for assessment - are prepared and set in a timely fashion to agreed deadlines, and are appropriate, fair and secure.
  • Contribute to the design of new courses and methods of delivery and assessment reflecting the evolving blended learning environment.
  • Coordinate improvements and ensure maintenance of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in line with Study Group strategic requirements.
  • Liaise with the Student Experience Team to support students in achieving their progression aims.
  • Work with Student Experience Team in the delivery of Student induction and orientation programmes.
  • Complete sponsor reports and academic reports for students.
  • Ensure that the design and delivery of all modules and courses are conducted according to Study Group, University of Huddersfield and relevant external quality frameworks, policies, procedures and codes of practice.
  • Plan, lead and participate in standardisation and moderation meetings.
  • Implement agreed actions from the Centre Action Plan relevant to the Business modules and courses, helping ensure that Academic Tutors contribute to the implementation of agreed actions.
  • Support the Head of Business in liaising with External Examiners for the subject area and provide information to External Examiners as required.
  • Support the Head of Business in working with colleagues to monitor and observe teaching and learning activity and supporting Business Tutors with continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.
  • Ensure high levels of progression are achieved for students in line with the centre’s Pass First Time Strategy.
  • Analyse data and feedback from a wide variety of sources and monitor progress towards progression targets, supporting the Head of Business to plan and effectively implement remedial actions where necessary.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE teaching qualification (working towards, or willingness to achieve).
  • Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a related field.
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 3.
  • Current experience in the delivery of Business teaching and learning.
  • Experience of teaching International Students.
  • Experience in planning and running complex education courses in the subject area.
  • Experience in coordinating a small team to achieve high levels of student academic performance and outcomes against agreed targets.
