Salary: Up to Β£90,000 per annum
Study Group will deliver a selection of postgraduate and undergraduate courses for the University of Huddersfield (UoH) at a campus in London. Several pathway programmes designed to progress to these courses will also be offered. The campus aims to attract a diverse international student body seeking high-quality teaching from UoH with strong employability options in London.
The Head of School will provide academic and operational leadership to the teams responsible for delivery at the UoH London campus. Responsibilities include ensuring quality assurance in accordance with UoH procedures, driving enhancements for exceptional student outcomes and experiences, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations, overseeing scholarly activity and research, and liaising with UoH on operational and academic matters.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Provide inspirational leadership across the campus, collaborating with management, UoH, and Study Group teams.
- Implement a vision for continuous improvement to achieve student outcome and progression targets.
- Work with university, Business Development, and Student Recruitment teams to develop joint courses and pathways to maximize recruitment.
- Participate in university partnership boards and committees, reporting regularly on progress.
- Maintain high academic standards, contributing through publications and professional engagement.
- Use staff feedback mechanisms to motivate staff and enhance student outcomes and experiences.
- Ensure staff are qualified, trained, honest, and professional, complying with laws and regulations.
- Recruit qualified academic staff, ensuring appropriate workloads and development opportunities.
- Manage academic programmes to ensure quality and positive student outcomes.
- Lead the development of new courses and products aligned with the Partnership Development Plan.
- Develop and implement the Campus Partnership Development Plan.
- Build internal partnerships with key stakeholders across Study Groupβs central teams.
- Handle serious incidents and crises, following escalation protocols.
- Address daily issues, including disciplinary processes, working collaboratively to resolve problems.
- Manage performance against key academic KPIs to meet business objectives.
- Support student retention through network links and partnerships.
- Ensure quality of franchised course delivery according to UoH QA procedures.
- Align course design and delivery with Study Group, UoH, and external quality frameworks.
- Establish and chair course committees and student panels, ensuring proper documentation.
- Monitor progress via data analysis and feedback, implementing remedial actions as needed.
- Lead the Annual Evaluation Process and prepare related reports.
- Prepare courses for approval or re-approval and propose course changes.
ABOUT YOU
- Doctorate in a relevant discipline.
- Fellowship of AdvanceHE or to be achieved within 12 months.
- Professional standing and leadership training.
- Proven success in academic leadership, preferably in an international context.
- Experience teaching in UK higher education and leading innovation.
- Experience working with international students and managing complex educational programmes.
- Partnership management experience in education sector.
- High-quality research publication record.
