The Global Careers Consultant plays a pivotal role in empowering international students to achieve high-quality career outcomes. Through personalised individual and group coaching, data-driven insights, strategic industry engagement, and the application of cutting-edge digital tools, the role ensures students are equipped with the skills, confidence, knowledge and networks needed to thrive in competitive global job markets.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Deliver tailored career coaching and employability support to international students, addressing unique challenges and opportunities.
- Demonstrate passion for staying abreast of global labour market trends and employer expectations to help inform strategy and practice.
- Identify and disseminate high quality insights relating to sectors and occupations, using the most appropriate channels and type of media to drive engagement.
- Champion and guide students to take advantage of digital solutions (e.g., AI-driven platforms, virtual career tools) to enhance student career readiness in a fast changing world.
- Maintain accurate records of student engagement with careers and employability support on campus and through the use of digital tools provided, analysing the data to inform targeted interventions and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with academics, the student experience team on campus, and designated stakeholders at University of Huddersfield to align and integrate career development through the student journey.
- Design and facilitate effective workshops and events focused on global employability, cultural intelligence, and professional development.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to students securing part time work or internships alongside their studies, skills enhancement, job market preparedness and high quality graduate employment outcomes.
- Support future engagement with graduates and alumni communities.
- Work closely with Study Group colleagues and key stakeholders on campus to ensure you have an accurate working knowledge of compliance requirements, including visas, safeguarding, attendance monitoring, Health & Safety and risk assessments.
- Coaching certification or advanced stage of training, essential.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Human Resources, Psychology, Business, Economics), highly desirable.
- Postgraduate qualification, or studying towards, desirable.
- CIPD qualification or membership, desirable.
- Proven experience in career coaching, student support, or talent development, ideally with international or multicultural populations.
- Experience of engaging with industry partners or multiple departments in a global business to co-design collaborative activities focused on careers, employability, L&D, and/or;
- Corporate experience of recruiting student and graduate talent through cutting edge professional practice, including digital assessments and in person assessments (group and individual).
- Some experience with the design or delivery of mentoring programmes would be useful.
