Contract type: Variable Hours – Fixed Term (11/09/2026) Location: Huddersfield, Huddersfield International Study Centre Salary: up to £33.57 per hour Here at the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre (ISC), we pride ourselves in providing a supportive learning experience that prepares our students for the challenges of undergraduate and postgraduate study. We are dedicated to providing excellent academic and Engineering, Science and Computing (ESC) Department skills and knowledge that will enable our students to progress onto their chosen programme of study at the University and an eventual successful career. Our academic team enjoy a collaborative approach to Learning and Teaching by supporting each other in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our STEM programmes and modules content. ABOUT THE ROLE * Plan appropriate, effective, differentiated, and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity * Plan teaching sessions using learning outcomes found in modules’ specifications and accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources and methods including digital learning techniques * Ensure all learning materials are updated and available on the VLE for students to access and engage with * Apply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students * Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress * Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety and safeguarding procedures. * Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, timely formative and summative assessment * Use a variety of consistent methods to check learning in lessons and periodically track and record students’ progress * Ensure that interactive assessment activities are available to students, face to face, online and via VLE * Prepare students for summative assessment e.g. exams, coursework, assignments, practical and/ or other required assessments methods * Engage in the timely preparation of assessment materials including the creation, marking, moderation and the entry of marks in the appropriate platforms e.g. Progresso and Trackers * Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and needed application to their future studies, referrals to progress coaches or senior management as necessary * Support students with individual target setting and revise these throughout the year during progress checks * Be aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material, including VLE contents, programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews * Comply with expectations of all professional conduct regulations * Be prepared to operate on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the Engineering Team and the Centre as a whole * Be available to cover lessons for absent colleagues as required * Prepare for and participate in appropriate Centre events e.g. induction activity, progression, enrichment, University school events, award ceremonies, surveys and other activities * Promote a cohesive work ethic within the ESC Department, the Centre and the ISC network * Share best practice and contribute to the ESC Department Teams’ bank of effective resources/ideas/activities for Teaching and Learning and mentoring ABOUT YOU * A Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE teaching qualification (working towards, or willingness to achieve) * Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area. * Desirable Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area. * Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 3 and 4 * Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 6 is desirable. * Thorough subject knowledge in Maths and Engineering – specifically Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering and ability to teach these subjects.
