Contract type: Full Time(37.5 hours) – Permanent Location: Kingston upon Thames, Kingston International Study Centre. Salary: up to £47,000 per annum The Deputy Director (Curriculum and Progression) will provide leadership to the teaching team, as well as implement strategies to ensure that all students within the centre achieve their full academic potential. This will be achieved through the development and implementation of sound pedagogical practices and an innovative and student-centred curriculum that supports lifelong learning as well as academic quality. The Deputy Director (Curriculum and Progression) will work closely with all Study Group and Kingston University stakeholders involved in the partnership, and in conjunction with the Centre Director ,be accountable for the delivery of contractually required student registrations to Kingston University. The post holder will support the Centre Director in the overall management of academic and progression matters within the centre. ABOUT THE ROLE * Articulate a vision for the Centre’s academic development and implement a strategic plan to drive continuous improvement and enable the Centre to achieve its ambitious targets for student outcomes. * Drive implementation of the Centre’s Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy (LTAS), Enhancement Strategy and Centre Action Plan. * Drive development of the academic partnership with the host university to maximise learning opportunities, student experience and student recruitment to the Centre. * Articulate and implement a clear vision for the development of the Centre’s programmes to meet the overall strategic aims of the Centre as a highly effective, attractive in market and sector-leading within pathways to UK HE. * Provide academic leadership to all programme teams, and on academic standards, the quality of learning opportunities, ensuring that they are managed appropriately and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Centre. * Lead on implementation of the Centre Action Plan in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Student Experience. * Lead on ensuring that the Centre is fully compliant with Study Group’s, Kingston University’s and relevant external agencies’ quality frameworks, policies, procedures, and codes of practice. * Ensure that the Centre is compliant in relation to Safeguarding responsibilities and staff across the Centre are aware of their obligations/requirements. * Manage and address day to day issues that arise ensuring that problems are resolved effectively and efficiently and that lessons are learned and incorporated into Centre practices. * Motivate, support, and encourage Heads of subject in developing their own areas of expertise and making sure that their individual teams have all the necessary tools and training to perform effectively in their roles. * Provide accountability for the Centre’s compliance with UKVI regulations in terms of teaching team contribution to student attendance monitoring. * Any other duties as required from time to time by the Centre Director. * Build excellent relationships within the network and beyond to partners, agents, and sponsors. * Enhance the Centre’s reputation within Study Group. * Develop close and effective working relations with key partners within the University. * Promote and develop the Link Tutor partnerships and ways of working to benefit the student experience. * Support Sales and Marketing colleagues with activities that drive student recruitment and support Centre growth. ABOUT YOU * An undergraduate degree and a post graduate qualification (desirable). * Teaching qualification (highly desirable). * Further management or leadership qualifications would be advantageous. (or a willingness to undertake such). * Experience of providing leadership in a complex multi-disciplinary environment, with evidence of significant success. * Experience of providing feedback to another person about their performance, which secured improvement. * Experience of HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process. * Ability to delegate activities set deadlines and take responsibility for overseeing their successful completion to meet challenging deadlines. * Experience planning and delivering change or continuous improvement, which achieved a positive impact on student outcomes. * Experience of successfully motivating and leading teachers through a process of change. * Experience of successfully leading on internal communication, which includes disseminating complex messages or changes to operations. * Experience of working with international students and an understanding of welfare, well-being and cultural issues which may arise. * Experience of data management and interpretation, and quality assurance. * Experience of working across, up and down an organisation as well as with external partners and both national and international stakeholders.
