About the Role

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, overseeing the month‑end close for their team, managing general entries, and collaborating with Commercial Finance teams. This role also manages the group fixed‑asset and lease registers and provides support to the Senior Financial Control Manager for statutory and tax compliance across Rest of the World and potential future offices.

Financial Reporting (internal and external)

  • Manage the fixed‑assets register and IFRS16 lease register
  • Oversee the month‑end close for the region
  • Liaise with Commercial Finance teams and explain monthly variances
  • Review the balance sheet and report on risks and opportunities
  • Support regional local accountants to meet local filing deadlines
  • Assist the Senior Financial Control Manager with local audit and reporting

Maintain Control and Integrity of Systems and Processes

  • Review monthly reconciliations of balance‑sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, control account reconciliations, accruals, pre‑payments, IFRS16 leases, fixed assets and resolve differences
  • Review accounting entries and reporting under IFRS16 and reconcile back to IAS17
  • Oversee Capex procedures, accounting for all movements and depreciation
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s delegated authority procedures

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with Shared Services, HR & Payroll, Commercial Finance, and regional local accountants across the ROW
  • Liaise and manage auditors at year‑end close
  • Support Shared Services in financial control advice and accounting policy guidance
  • Support budget holders in coding queries or accounting guidance

People Management

  • Build a productive working environment through constructive, regular and timely feedback with appropriate delegation & monitoring of staff
  • Align performance plans of staff to achieve finance objectives and evaluate performance
  • Encourage a culture of coaching, professional development and self‑improvement

Ad‑Hoc Project Work

  • Assist the wider Finance team with ad‑hoc project work as required
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects

About You

  • Part‑qualified ACCA/ACA
  • Experience in month‑end close
  • Exposure to IFRS16 and fixed‑asset accounting
  • Ability to conduct balance‑sheet reviews
  • Team management or supervision experience
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to non‑finance audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to multitask, manage upwards and downwards, and prioritize accordingly
  • Relationship management and customer‑service skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems (Agresso an advantage)
