The University of Sheffield International College is seeking an academic tutor to teach Neuroscience for Psychology in our International Year 1 (IY1) Psychology course, and support teaching on other related modules.
About the Role
The post holder will be responsible for teaching Level 3 and 4 modules delivered to groups of international students. The role includes module coordination, marking a variety of assessments and the provision of feedback to students. The successful candidate will be competent in the use of IT skills related to teaching, including the use of VLEs. Module coordination includes leading teaching teams, carrying out quality assurance procedures, and ensuring that teaching materials are up to date. The role also requires the creation of both formative and summative assessments. The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly as part of a busy team, contribute in meetings, communicate effectively with colleagues, and work to deadlines.
About You
Essential
- A PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant subject
- Experience of teaching and marking assessments in Psychology or a related field in UK Higher Education, Further Education, Sixth Form or equivalent teaching experience
- Experience or capability to provide cross-disciplinary teaching support in related modules (e.g. Biology or Chemistry)
- Advanced ability to navigate Virtual Learning Environments
- Strong competence in use of IT tools for teaching and administration
Desirable
- Experience of writing assessments at FHEQ level 3 (A-level), level 4 (first year of UG), or equivalent experience
- Experience in module coordination or equivalent experience
- Experience in identifying and implementing module enhancement needs and opportunities
- Experience working with international students
