We’re looking for skilled and competent Technical Designers who have a hunger for creating beautiful work. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in creating and reading fabrication drawings quickly and to a high standard
  • Expert knowledge of CNC processes and how to create drawings for them
  • An active interest in all areas of design, with experience and knowledge in a variety of different design practices
  • An excellent understanding of fabrication, materials and assembly processes

The Role:

  • You would be supporting a small team working within our production department seeing projects fabricated in our own workshop on a daily basis.
  • The work is varied and interesting with a huge range of materials and finishes to be explored.
  • Reporting into our Lead Technical Designer, you will support our Production team and Design team to make our designs come to life.
  • Advising on projects across the business, giving technical/construction advice and solving problems.
  • Bridging the gap between creative design and fabrication.
  • Producing technical drawings, CAD/CAM files for CAD/CAM processes.
  • Solving technical problems, specifying materials fixings and manufacturing techniques.
  • Helping to deliver fully resolved technical/construction drawings to both our in-house construction team and outsourced specialist contractors.
  • Working closely with Project/Production Managers on budgets and costings for entire projects to make sure technical and creative integrity is maintained.
  • Helping to oversee quality control on production jobs.
  • Liaising with suppliers and Project Managers to ensure projects are well communicated and on-track when required.
  • Comfortable presenting technical designs back to wider team.

Location: This role is based full time in our East London studio. Normal working hours are 9am - 6pm but flexible working hours and days are available and we have an unofficial 5pm finish on Fridays.

Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years technical design experience preferably within retail display/shop-fitting or exhibition/events or staging industries.
  • An expert knowledge of CAD Software - Rhino or Solidworks and an ability to use Sketchup.
  • Experience in creating 3D models.
  • Experience in conducting site surveys and assessing access and site requirements.
