StudioXAG is seeking a talented CNC Manager to join our esteemed Production Team and contribute to the exceptional storytelling experiences we’re known for. The Role: Working closely with the Production Management Team, you’ll manage the CNC schedule and its output. Programming and cutting materials for projects within the studio. You’ll oversee all aspects of the CNC machine, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery for the wider team. The role would include managing and quoting any outsourced cutting requests and scheduling this around the in-house production work. The CNC Manager ensures quality control, machine maintenance, and continuous process improvement while mentoring team members to enhance technical proficiency and innovation.
Responsibilities include:
- CNC Management: Oversee daily CNC machining operations, including scheduling, machine setup, and production targets
- Toolpath programming: Develop, edit, and optimise CNC programs using CAD/CAM software for efficiency and precision
- Nesting: Optimise material usage by nesting components efficiently within CAD/CAM software
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the production team to ensure machined parts meet company standards with minimal rework
- Machine Maintenance: Coordinate preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure optimal machine performance
- Team Training & Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to CNC operators and machinists, enhancing their technical skills and adherence to best practices
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement enhancements in CNC operations, toolpaths, and workflows to increase productivity and reduce costs
- Scheduling: Manage CNC workflow to optimise production efficiency
- Quoting: Estimate internal and external machining time for accurate project planning

Experience & Qualifications:
- 3+ years in CNC machining and programming, with leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of machine tooling, materials, and production processes
- Extensive experience with CAD/CAM software such as Alphacam, EnRoute, SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, or similar
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage CNC production workflows
- Expertise in interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving
Must Have Tools & Software Knowledge:
- EnRoute, AlphaCAM, Rhino, SolidWorks
- CNC G-code/M-code programming
- Measuring tools and quality control instruments
- Microsoft Office Suite
This role is ideal for a machining expert passionate about optimising CNC programming, streamlining operations, and leading a skilled team to achieve precision and efficiency.
Location: This role is based in our East London studio in E10. Our normal working hours are 8am - 5pm but flexible working hours and days are available.
