Studio Wayne McGregor is the creative hub for the multi award-winning choreographer and director Wayne McGregor’s exploration of movement, innovation, and the body. It also runs specialized learning, artist development, and research programs that support emerging and established creatives. Based at Here East on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London, Studio Wayne McGregor works at the intersection of arts, technology, and education to create impactful, forward-thinking projects worldwide.

Role Description

The General Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in London, with a mix of on-site work at Here East and some work from home. The postholder will oversee day-to-day operations, including financial management, budgeting, and reporting, while ensuring that organisational systems and processes are effective and compliant. They will manage HR functions such as recruitment, contracting, and staff support, and building operations. The General Manager will lead on contract negotiation, risk management, and policy implementation for the building, liaising with external partners, funders, and suppliers as needed. They will work with leadership to support strategic planning and governance, and contribute to cultivating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

Essential Experience & Knowledge

  • Strong operational management experience within an arts or creative organisation inc. building management
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience
  • Knowledge of charity governance, employment law and regulatory experience
  • Understanding of Arts Council England priorities and reporting frameworks
  • Experience working in a studio-based, artist-led, or performance organisation, particularly within dance or live performance
  • An understanding of Studio Wayne McGregor and a passion for dance.
