Studio Mercy is a design-led interior studio creating layered, characterful and emotionally resonant spaces across residential and hospitality projects. Our work blends a highly residential approach to hospitality with a strong focus on atmosphere, texture, materiality, art and styling. We believe the most successful spaces feel deeply considered, collected over time and rich in personality, never over-designed or formulaic. We are a small, collaborative and ambitious studio that values creativity, instinct, detail and execution in equal measure.

We are looking for a highly creative Senior Interior Designer to join the studio and work closely alongside the Creative Director across a range of high-end residential and hospitality projects. This is a senior, hands-on design role for someone with strong conceptual ability, exceptional taste and experience delivering beautifully resolved interiors from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will play a key role in translating the Creative Director’s vision into fully realised spaces, leading the day-to-day development and execution of projects while ensuring the original creative intent is protected throughout every stage. You will be responsible for leading projects internally, managing timelines and deliverables, coordinating the wider design team and driving projects forward creatively and operationally. This role would suit someone who is deeply design-led but also highly organised, proactive and confident in taking ownership of project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of projects from concept through to completion
  • Translate the Creative Director’s vision into highly resolved interior schemes
  • Develop layouts, spatial concepts, material palettes and FF&E selections
  • Lead sourcing across furniture, lighting, vintage, art and styling
  • Create presentations and design packages to a high visual standard
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail across all aspects of a project
  • Ensure projects feel layered, cohesive and emotionally engaging
  • Protect the integrity of the design concept throughout delivery

Project & Team Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day project execution internally
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables and key milestones
  • Coordinate junior designers, assistants and stylists
  • Delegate tasks clearly and review team output
  • Ensure projects move forward efficiently and proactively
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, suppliers and consultants
  • Attend client meetings and presentations where required

Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee design documentation and drawing packages
  • Support procurement and installation coordination
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure projects remain commercially aligned
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively during delivery
  • Lead installations and ensure final spaces are executed to an exceptional standard

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience within high-end residential and/or hospitality interiors
  • Strong conceptual and spatial design ability
  • Excellent understanding of luxury interiors, materiality and atmosphere
  • Proven experience leading projects from concept to completion
  • Strong FF&E knowledge and sourcing experience
  • Confident managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior team members
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Calm, proactive and solutions-focused

Software

  • Essential: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign
  • Preferred: SketchUp, Vectorworks, ClickUp or similar project management platforms

Additional Skills

  • Keen interest in emerging creative technologies and AI-assisted workflows
  • Comfortable using modern tools to support design development, research, organisation and studio efficiency
  • Strong visual judgement and taste - with the ability to use AI tools critically and creatively rather than generically
