As a growing business with a reputation for beautiful design and cutting-edge development, we’re looking to expand our awesome team by welcoming on board a new, experienced web developer. If you are just as passionate about crafting an efficient, high-performance back-end as you are with sculpting stand-out user interfaces – plus you get excited to push creative boundaries with every project, read on. Studio Illicit broke the mould from the very start – beginning 15 years ago as a recording studio, formed by three members of a touring punk band. We’re now a small team of nine people working from our contemporary studio offices in the heart of Exeter’s indie quarter, McCoys Arcade. We’re far from the usual corporate web design agency though, and always remember our punk roots by bringing this energy and creativity to every project we take on. We’re also a company that cares deeply about our social responsibilities, leading by example and setting new benchmarks in low-carbon web development. We make sure to offset our carbon emissions to create an entirely green office while also supporting projects that improve lives and fight climate change. We’re an equal opportunity employer and as a team, we each bring skills and talents that enable us to source, design and develop some of the most original, innovative and exciting sites on the web. This vacancy is suited to an experienced web developer with plenty of agile working experience and good knowledge of modern processes and tools. The candidate will be an all-rounder with strong initiative, a relaxed and positive attitude, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively – but don’t worry, we have some brilliant designers and account managers to deal with the client liaison side. Excellent working knowledge of PHP, HTML, JavaScript/TypeScript and CSS is essential, as is extensive experience with WordPress plugin and theme development. Familiarity with Shopify would be desirable. We pay bonuses twice a year, once at Christmas and a performance related bonus during yearly appraisals. You’ll get an annual pay review as standard and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
