We are seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer to join a technical team based in Cornwall. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an engineer in the early stages of their career to gain hands‑on experience, develop practical skills and contribute to a range of engineering projects.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will support activities across product design, technical development, testing and continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real‑world engineering challenges while developing an understanding of how products progress from initial concept through to manufacture.

The role would suit someone with a degree in electronic engineering, physics or a related technical discipline who enjoys analytical thinking, investigating problems and finding practical solutions.

Previous industry experience is not essential, as training and guidance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, development and refinement of technical products.
  • Carry out engineering calculations, modelling and analysis to support project work.
  • Investigate new technologies, components, materials and design techniques.
  • Help develop solutions to meet technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Support testing activities, evaluate results and contribute to performance improvements.
  • Work with production colleagues to improve manufacturing methods and assembly processes.
  • Review technical data, identify trends and prepare reports outlining findings.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, drawings and supporting documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance to colleagues across the business when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, efficiency and overall performance.
  • Contribute to project discussions and collaborate with colleagues from different technical disciplines.
  • Take part in training and development activities to build technical knowledge and professional skills.

About You

We are looking for someone with a sound academic background, a practical approach to problem‑solving and a genuine interest in developing a career in engineering.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics or a related scientific or engineering subject.
  • An interest in product development, electronics, technical analysis or applied engineering.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Some familiarity with engineering design tools, modelling software or simulation techniques.
  • The ability to interpret technical information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of manufacturing principles, mechanical components or assembly processes.
  • Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The ability to work independently when appropriate and contribute effectively within a team.
  • The right to work in the UK.

University projects, industrial placements, internships or other relevant practical experience would be beneficial but are not essential.

What We Offer

  • A supportive environment in which to begin and develop your engineering career.
  • Practical experience across a variety of technical projects.
  • Guidance and knowledge‑sharing from experienced engineering professionals.
  • Opportunities to build expertise in design, testing, analysis and product development.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
