About the Role:
Please note this is a 12 month fixed-term position. We’re looking for a senior digital leader to shape and deliver high-impact, service-centric platforms at scale, owning the full lifecycle from strategy through to continuous improvement. You will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver resilient, secure, and accessible digital services, using data, user insight, and performance metrics to continuously optimise and scale self-service experiences.
Acting as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, you’ll build strong cross-government and partner relationships, aligning delivery with policy, transformation roadmaps, and enterprise priorities. You’ll drive the introduction and integration of new technologies (including COTS and SaaS), ensuring seamless adoption while maintaining strong architectural integrity and operational performance. This role will champion enterprise agility—embedding standards, influencing governance, and enabling consistent, value-driven delivery across portfolios and teams.
You’ll also play a key role in evolving capability, shaping workforce strategy, and uplifting digital delivery maturity across disciplines. If you’re ready to influence at system level and leave a lasting mark on how digital services are delivered, we’d welcome your application.
What you bring:
- Demonstrable experience leading agile, multi-disciplinary digital delivery teams in complex or regulated environments, with expertise in enterprise-scale delivery approaches.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale digital products and services, driving agile cultures and continuous improvement through data, KPIs and OKRs.
- Demonstrable understanding of agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and modern product-centric delivery models.
- Experience of modern technology delivery, including cloud platforms, APIs, integration and reducing technical debt.
- Demonstrable ability to influence at senior level, building effective relationships across business, government and external partners.
- Deep knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD and platform operations, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Experience of portfolio, vendor and financial governance, ensuring effective prioritisation and value for money.
- Demonstrable leadership capability, including workforce planning, developing multi-disciplinary teams and driving digital culture change.
You can expect more from a career with SLC. We support colleagues to unlock their potential through our Career Pathways development programme and offer an excellent benefit and rewards package that includes:
- 28 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays
- Option to buy/sell annual leave
- Flexi-time and enhanced flexible working options available
- Option to join the Civil Service pension scheme
- Life insurance cover for 4 x annual salary
- Enhanced company sick pay and family leave including maternity, paternity and adoption
- Contributory lifestyle benefit options including discounts at hundreds of retailers, cycle to work scheme, access to the Civil Service Sports and Leisure Club for discounted gym memberships, and an optional dental insurance scheme.
