Let’s talk about role The Legal Director is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's regulatory and legal requirements. This role requires a combination of leadership, legal expertise, and a deep understanding of organizational policies and laws. This position will report to the VP of Finance, based in Paris.
What will I be doing?
- Legal Oversight & Compliance: Provide expert legal advice on corporate, employment, and regulatory matters across the organization. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws, including labor laws, data privacy regulations, and corporate governance. Develop and maintain internal legal policies, ensuring they align with best practices and industry standards. Monitor legal and regulatory changes, advising leadership on necessary adjustments to policies and operations.
- Contract Management & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including employment agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and service-level agreements. Ensure all contracts protect the company’s interests and comply with relevant legal requirements. Collaborate with internal teams, such as Finance and Operations, to assess the legal implications of business agreements.
- Risk Management & Dispute Resolution: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Oversee any legal disputes, investigations, and litigation, working closely with external legal counsel when necessary. Support internal teams in resolving employment law issues, compliance concerns, and corporate governance matters.
- Corporate Governance & Ethics: Advise on governance matters, ensuring the company adheres to legal and ethical standards. Support board and executive leadership with legal insights related to corporate decisions and policies. Conduct internal legal audits and implement best practices to strengthen regulatory compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to align legal strategies with business needs. Communicate legal policies and updates effectively to senior management and employees. Act as a liaison with external legal counsel, government agencies, and industry bodies when required.
What do we need from you?
- 7+ years of legal experience, preferably in corporate law, employment law, or regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to manage legal risks and ensure corporate compliance in a dynamic, international environment.
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
- Expertise in employment law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and provide strategic legal advice to business leaders.
- Registered and qualified with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent legal accreditation.
