The Programmes Assistant Project Manager (PAPM) is responsible for supporting Project Managers in the successful planning and execution of Programmes related projects.
Duties: The PAPM is responsible for:
- Directly responsible to the Programmes Director who will allocate project responsibilities dependent on current priorities.
- Maintain a functional level of knowledge across all Programmes projects.
- Act as a secondary primary point of contact for all Programmes projects; assisting in the maintenance of customer relationships on behalf of STS Defence and ensuring the smooth transaction of business and management of customer dependencies.
- Support the delivery of all Programmes Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) which includes all contract documentation, plans and technical reports in accordance with the agreed plan.
- Supporting delivery of all contracted technical outputs including documentation, support, upgrades and platform calibrations.
- Working with the Procurement Team to manage suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Working closely with the design and integration teams to ensure STS Defence acts as an effective systems integrator for new capabilities into RN platforms and facilities in accordance with an agreed Integrated, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plan.
- Support Project Managers in the design and development activities in accordance with engineering governance processes including Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
- Working closely with the user community to understand current and future customer requirements.
- As required, support the planning and execution of all contracted meetings and performance reviews/reports.
- Assist in the tracking and management of all Programmes GFX requirements.
- Support Project Managers in the business winning process including scoping, cost estimating, agreement with the Authority and successful execution to time, cost and quality.
- Support the implementation of regular project controls monitoring to manage budgets including WIP and Project Cost Analysis reviews.
- Maintain and use project management artefacts including Project Management Plan, schedule and risk register.
- Assist in all project related safety and security requirements, whilst maintaining a robust security and safety culture across the business.
- Assist in the review of technical documentation as and when required.
- Developing business by actively seeking additional business opportunities for STS Defence either within existing contracts or wider opportunities.
- Seek opportunities for professional development towards becoming fully qualified Project Manager.
Skills/Qualifications: The PAPM should have:
- Foundation project management qualification or working towards them.
- Experience of leadership.
- Experience of working as part of a team, delivering to tight deadlines.
- Experience of working in Defence.
- Strong problem solving abilities.
- Effective leadership, management, interpersonal and communications skills.
- The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community within the Programmes teams.
