STS Aviation Services is seeking a Safety Engineer to join its Safety & Compliance team, supporting operations across Manchester and Birmingham, United Kingdom. This role plays a critical part in maintaining and strengthening the organisation’s Safety Management System within a regulated Part-145 MRO environment. The position is primarily based in Manchester, with required travel to Birmingham one to two days per week. Candidates must be eligible to obtain SC clearance upon offer acceptance.
This is an opportunity to work inside a growing UK MRO operation where safety is not a checkbox. It is the standard everything else is measured against.
Job Responsibilities- Support the development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System in line with ICAO Annex 19 and EASA/CAA Part-145 requirements
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and investigations, producing detailed reports and root cause analyses
- Monitor safety performance indicators and ensure timely closure of corrective actions
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety workshops across maintenance teams
- Manage and analyse safety reports within the SMS platform, with Centrik experience preferred
- Support compliance monitoring activities and ensure findings are recorded and addressed accurately
- Assist in developing and delivering safety communications and training materials
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve safety awareness and operational performance
- Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and compliance
- BSc in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent qualification
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a Part-145 maintenance safety or compliance role
- Working knowledge of EASA and CAA Part-145 regulations
- Understanding of Safety Management System principles aligned with ICAO Annex 19
- Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and root cause analysis reporting
- Familiarity with Centrik SMS platform preferred
- Understanding of fixed-wing maintenance safety hazards, including Boeing 737, Boeing 777, Airbus A320, and Airbus A330
- Primary base in Manchester with required travel to Birmingham one to two days per week
- Monday to Friday work schedule with flexibility required to support operational needs
