STS Defence is looking for a skilled Weld Fabricator with strong TIG and MIG welding expertise to join its busy, high-performing production team. This is a long-term opportunity in a cutting-edge defence manufacturing environment, where you’ll play a key role in producing intricate, safety-critical components to the highest standards. In this role, you’ll take pride in precision welding and fabrication across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, working hands-on with detailed engineering drawings, routings, and inspection processes to deliver exceptional quality every time.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Manufacture precision defence components to tight tolerances
- Work to engineering drawings, specifications, and ISO standards
- Carry out fabrication, finishing, and preparation activities using grinders, linishers, and hand tools
- Follow defined routing and inspection processes to ensure compliance
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality, and traceability
- Sign off completed work using an individual quality “stamp”
- Contribute proactively to continuous improvement and problem-solving within the team
Skills/Qualifications
- Proven TIG welding experience within Defence, Aerospace, Motorsport, or Nuclear environments
- Strong background in aluminium welding to ISO or equivalent standards
- Experience working in fabrication and precision manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- High attention to detail with a strong quality-focused mindset
- Experience using grinders, linishers, and general fabrication hand tools
- Familiarity with routing, inspection, and quality assurance processes
- Team-oriented approach with strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness and capability to maintain a personal quality stamp
Additional Information
SECURITY – All candidates must be in a position to obtain UK security clearance to SC level. Additional restrictions may apply on certain defence programmes.
